Rolls-Royce has a strong and long-standing presence in Malaysia.

The company has been involved in the development of Malaysia's civil and military aviation sectors over the last 50 years. Rolls-Royce is present in all the four main business sectors in Malaysia - civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy.

Malaysia and Rolls-Royce: Powering up a brighter future
Rolls-Royce joins Malaysia in celebrating the nation’s Golden Jubilee on 31 August 2007. Present in Malaysia for over 50 years, Rolls-Royce has witnessed the country’s remarkable development into a strong, diversified and internationally admired economy. Rolls-Royce’s role in Malaysia has expanded in parallel with the nation’s economic growth. The company’s activities have grown from civil and defence aerospace to include the marine and energy sectors. Moreover, Rolls-Royce is honoured to have as clients, organisations such as Malaysia Airlines, which has chosen the Trent 900 engine to power its incoming fleet of six Airbus A380s, Petronas, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), which have all contributed to Malaysia’s accelerated growth. Looking ahead, Rolls-Royce is committed to working with Malaysia in achieving its Vision 2020 goals.

Rolls-Royce secures $1.3 billion Trent 700 package to launch Air Asia’s A330 long-haul start-up operation
Kuala Lumpur-based long-haul low cost start-up airline AirAsia X, has selected the Trent 700 to power its new fleet of 15 Airbus A330-300s. The deal, worth over $1 billion at list prices, also includes a TotalCare® long term service agreement.The airline is set to formally launch medium and long haul operations in September 2008.

Tony Fernandes, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia, said: “The Trent 700 is the best engine choice for us on a number of levels. It will give us the widest choice of routes and the greatest revenue-earning opportunities. For a low-cost operation such as ours, supporting the engine with TotalCare also gives us the ability to have a predictable cost base which is crucial for us to be competitive. We are pleased and proud to be working with Rolls-Royce as we launch our new, long-range services.”
