MAS was the launch customer of the RB211-524D4 engine for the Boeing 747 in 1982 and these aircraft remain in service today. In 1997, the airline took delivery of its first Boeing 777 powered by the Trent 892, helping Rolls-Royce reclaim the record for the world's longest flight by a commercial aircraft of 10,823 nautical miles from Seattle to Kuala Lumpur. It also set a record of 553 mph for the fastest speed around the world, eastbound.

The airline's 17th Rolls-Royce powered Boeing 777 was delivered in December 2004. In the same month, MAS chose the Trent 900 engine to power its fleet of six Airbus A380 airliners, which will travel on routes from Kuala Lumpur to Europe and Australia.

In April 2005, Rolls-Royce celebrated the first flight of the A380 aircraft with its Trent 900 engine. As part of the tour to Asia, its aircraft made a stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

With firm and option orders placed for 89 Trent-powered A380s, Rolls-Royce has secured nearly 50 per cent of the market.

The Prime Minister operates the Bombardier Global Express powered by the BR710 engine. Further examples of this aircraft and other corporate aircraft types in Malaysia include the Gulfstream IV, powered by the Rolls-Royce Tay. In addition, there are almost 40 Model 250 powered civilian registered helicopters fulfilling a variety of roles in the country.
