Rolls-Royce understands Korea's goal of becoming an aerospace industry country and assists in its development in several ways.

It purchases engine components manufactured by Samsung Techwin, both civil and military, such as the Trent 900 combustor and Adour combustion liners and enables Samsung Techwin to gain engine know-how through their maintenance of the T56, Gem and Model 250 engines in Korea.

However, to instill a deep understanding of the technologies of aero engines, Rolls-Royce has engaged in joint research projects, with Korea Institute of Machinery and Metals and Korea Aerospace Research Institute. In 2006, It has signed a joint technology research and development collaboration agreement for technological corporation with Pusan National University and Busan Metropolitan City to develop ultra-efficient, ultra light weight heat exchangers, to be applied to aircraft and ship engines and energy systems. Following this, Rolls-Royce has strengthened its technology and manufacturing collaboration with Korea, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DongHwa Entec Co. Ltd., Korean small-medium company in Busan.

Besides assisting in the development of Korea's technology resources, Rolls-Royce contributes to the education and training of Korean scholars, through post graduate scholarships to Imperial College, London, The Welding Institute, Cambridge, and Cranfield University's Business school and through an intern programme for Pusan University undergraduates in its UK headquarter.
