service on Fokker F27,Fokker F28, and the
YS-11 with the predecessor
of Korean Air in the early 1960s, resulting
in Korean Air having the longest relationship
with Rolls-Royce since 1963.
Today Korean Air and Asiana Airlines operate
aircraft powered by Tay and V2500 engines.
Korean Air flies Fokker 100s powered by
the Tay and Asiana Airlines has Airbus A321
aircraft powered by the V2500 engine produced
by International Aero Engines, in which
Rolls-Royce is a major shareholder.
Rolls-Royce is a leader in engines for corporate/business
aircraft, and Samsung/Hanjin operate a Bombardier
Global Express powered by the BR710 and
a Gulfstream G450 powered by the Tay.
In addition, civil operators use a number
of Rolls-Royce powered helicopters, primarily
Bell 206s powered by the Model 250 engine.
In total, there are more than 110 Rolls-Royce
civil aero engines in service in Korea and
Samsung Techwin is the exclusive, worldwide
supplier of combustor modules for Rolls-Royce
Trent 900 engines for the Airbus A380.
