Korea's good and true partner

Rolls-Royce powers over 300 aircraft in Korea, with over 500 engines in service with Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Government agencies and all three of Korea's armed forces.

Rolls-Royce AG9140RF gas turbines are currently being built under license by Samsung Techwin for the Korean Navy's KDX-III Aegis destroyer. In 2006, Rolls-Royce delivered three gas turbine generator sets to the first Republic of Korea Navy KDX III destroyer. Rolls-Royce waterjets, propellers, gear boxes, machinery control systems and ship lifts are also in or coming into service with the Korean Navy, maritime police and coastguard agencies.

Rolls-Royce Group's office is in Seoul. The marine equipment facility at Busan, owned by Rolls-Royce, has more than 90 employees, and supplies both Korean and Japanese shipbuilding companies.

Rolls-Royce also supplies gas turbines to Korean-built oil and gas exploration and production facilities for offshore owners and Korean petrochemical plants.

Rolls-Royce is seeking to make Korea its long term partner for both the Korean and worldwide markets. Co-production in Korea in partnership with Korean industry is Rolls-Royce's preferred mechanism for its business operations in Korea.

Samsung Techwin is the sole supplier of combustor modules for Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines for the Airbus A380 under a long-term agreement signed in 2001. It was won against strong competition from Japan and it is the first time that this core technology has been transferred outside Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce signed a joint technology research and development collaboration agreement with Pusan National University (PNU) in 2006. The agreement marks the start of joint research activities between Rolls-Royce and PNU, to develop ultra-efficient, ultra-light weight heat exchangers. Also, Rolls-Royce has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with DongHwa Entec Co. Ltd. which is small-medium company, located in Busan for their joint research and manufacturing programmes.
