KHI packages the Tyne/Olympus and Spey marine
propulsion systems for the JMSDF, which
with 160 gas turbines in service is today
one of the world’s largest operators
of Rolls-Royce marine gas turbines, with
Spey, Olympus and Tyne engines predominating
for propulsion and the 501 for on-board
power generation.
Kamewa waterjets equip vessels of Japan’s
coastal patrol units, while Bird Johnson
and Kamewa propellers feature in destroyers
