Rolls-Royce has been in Japan for more than
40 years and was one of the first occupants
of the Kasumigaseki building when it opened
in 1968.
The head office supports our Airlines, Defence,
Marine and Energy corporate interests in
Japan. We have a further office, which has
the direct responsibility for our Marine
business.
Rolls-Royce has established relationships
with the leading engineering groups and
today all the ‘Heavies’ are
risk and revenue sharing partners in the
Rolls-Royce Trent engine. Further details
of these relationships are given in the
section on our partners.
Our ‘Vision’ technology programmes
are developing solutions with tomorrows
technology today. For example, Rolls-Royce
together with JAXA and KHI is working to
improve emissions for the next-generation
engine for passenger planes with a target
of reduction by 80% the nitrogen oxide (NOx)
pollutants produced by today’s engines.
