Partners

Rolls-Royce has had a licence production partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore since 1956.

The first licence to HAL was issued in 1956 to manufacture the Orpheus engine, which is still in service today in the Indian Air Force Kiran Jet Trainer.

HAL is also involved in the maintenance of Rolls-Royce Avon, Adour, Gnome and Dart aero engines as well as Avon and 501 K industrial gas turbines.

Under a new licence agreement, HAL will locally
manufacture the Adour 871 engine for the new Indian Air Force Hawks.

Rolls-Royce has also set up a purchase office in Bangalore (HAL) to increase its sourcing from India.

In 2005, Rolls-Royce established a new subsidiary in Bangalore with QuEST to manage the growing volume of engineering work that it is sub contracting in the country. It will enable
Rolls-Royce to take advantage of the capability that exists in India. to develop affordable aero-engineering solutions - including engineering analysis and design.

In addition to our partnerships with HAL and QuEST, we are working with a number of Indian companies, institutions and organisations to develop engineering, supply and outsourcing solutions.
