Delivering customer benefits in service demands vision, versatility and reliability

arrow There are good reasons why the jet engine delivers in service: the nature of the jet engine described in section one; the engineering excellence of section two; and the abilities to manufacture, maintain, and adapt as described in this third and final section.

Modern engine design recognises the significance of ease of manufacture, assembly, and maintenance in service; today, these are essential aspects of any viable engineering solution. The gas turbine is then installed where it can provide useful power: in a nacelle, ship, or power station, on a pipeline or oil platform. For the remainder of its lifecycle, engine maintenance ensures that the engine will continue to deliver the agreed performance over many decades; all the while, lessons learnt during service feed into the research of technologies, materials, and processes, which create the engines of the future.
