The Reactivity Meter measures changes in neutron flux. It assists nuclear power plant operators in sub-critical approaches and discrepancies when evaluating fluctuating responses caused by temperature, moving rod assemblies and diluted boron. The Reactivity Meter is commonly used at the start-up of the nuclear reactor after refuelling or any outage.
The Rolls-Royce Reactivity Meter can be both integrated into the Neutron Instrumentation System or a stand alone system. The data processing is mainly PC-based and is compatible with SpinlineTM digital nuclear safety I&C technology to capture the neutron flux information.
