Technical training career paths

Every year we offer apprenticeships in the three technical career paths of aircraft mechanic (specialising in engine technology) in Dahlewitz, near Berlin, and cutting mechanic (specialising in turning machine systems) and industrial mechanic (specialising in machinery and plant engineering) in Oberursel, near Frankfurt am Main.

Training programme

The training programme begins in September each year and normally lasts for three and a half years. In cases of above-average performance, it is possible to reduce this time to three years. To create the best conditions possible to ensure your success, we offer:

  • modern training workshops
  • small groups to bring out your potential
  • close dovetailing of theory and practice in vocational school and on-the-job
  • involvement in cross-departmental projects
  • the opportunity to acquire additional qualifications such as aviation-specific English and aviation-related test authorisations
  • further qualification beyond the normal training requirements, e.g. as “Certifying Mechanic CAT A” (aircraft mechanic)
  • a familiarisation workshop for trainees from both sites in the first week
  • performance-based offer of employment following successful completion of your training

Requirements

Irrespective of your chosen training career path, you should be very responsible and conscientious and have an aptitude for practical things that you can bring to bear on many-sided tasks. You should also have good communication skills and be capable of working both independently and in a team. We expect you to have obtained high marks in your secondary school final examinations. We attach a lot of importance to high grades in mathematics and physics and basic competence in the English language.

Closing dates for applications

If you would like to start training with us in September, your application must reach us no later than
30 September the preceding year for Dahlewitz
31 December the preceding year for Oberursel

Application documents

Your application should include a covering letter explaining why you want to train in your chosen career path, your CV, your last two school reports and, where applicable, evidence of work placements completed.
