Rolls-Royce Deutschland – an inherent part of Germany’s aerospace industry.

Rolls-Royce in Germany has a workforce of around 3,000 divided between its two sites in Dahlewitz near Berlin and Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main.

In 2008 Rolls-Royce Deutschland achieved record revenues of over 1.1 billion euros and its order book currently stands at over 3.9 billion euros. To date approximately 1.5 billion euros have been invested in developing the German Rolls-Royce locations and the successful BR700 family of engines.

Rolls-Royce employs about 1,800 people directly at its development and assembly site in Dahlewitz, including about 750 engineers.

Having invested over 200 million euros in the modern production facilities in Dahlewitz, Rolls-Royce has actively supported the process of German reunification. As the second largest aerospace employer in Brandenburg, Rolls-Royce promotes the establishment of new companies in the aerospace cluster of Berlin-Brandenburg and contributes considerably to Brandenburg’s export rate. Rolls-Royce’s investment in Dahlewitz also supports about 1,500 jobs in the local supply chain, covering 150 companies across Brandenburg.

As the Centre of Competence for two-shaft engines within the Rolls-Royce Group, Dahlewitz is also responsible for the Tay, Spey and Dart engine series as well as for the IAE V2500, which has been assembled in Dahlewitz since 2005. Rolls-Royce Deutschland provides support to 5,000 engines in service worldwide.

Rolls-Royce employs about 1,200 people directly at the assembly site in Oberursel, which is the Centre of Competence for Blisk manufacturing.

In addition to the manufacture of high-tech components for numerous Rolls-Royce engine programmes, small gas turbines for civilian and military applications, such as the RTM322 engines for the Bundeswehr’s NH90 helicopters, are maintained and overhauled at this site.

The investment in Oberursel also generates about 60 million euros of turnover in the local supply chain, covering 450 companies across Hesse and bordering regions. Originally founded in 1892, the Oberursel site has the longest continuous engine manufacturing history in the entire Rolls-Royce Group. Today Oberursel is a very modern site employing highly skilled people and utilising the latest, state-of-the-art production technology.
