Description
The TP400-D6 will be developed and produced by EPI
Europrop International, an international cooperation
comprising Rolls-Royce, Snecma, MTU and ITP.
The engine has been designed to fulfil the ESR (European
Staff Requirements) for the A400M military transport,
Europe's response to the increased requirements for
transport capacity within Europe and for peacekeeping
missions abroad.
Major development activities started in May 2003 after
the engine contract was signed by Airbus Military S.L.
and EPI Europrop International Gmbh. This contract covers
the development and production of more than 750 engines
to be delivered from 2009 onwards for the A400M fleets
of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Turkey,
Belgium and Luxembourg and the production of additional
engines for potential export customers.
Rolls-Royce's areas of responsibility include the overall
engine performance, Air & Oil systems, the Intermediate
casing, the 6-stage High Pressure Compressor and the
Low Pressure shaft.
