Rolls-Royce power for trainers
Rolls-Royce has a long and well-established pedigree
in the trainer engine market. Today's trainer aircraft
powered by Rolls-Royce engines include the Adour-powered
Hawk, the Viper-powered MB339 and MB326, and the Swedish
Air Force SK60, powered by the FJ44 engine.
The Viper has been in service well over 40 years,
with over 5,500 engines produced. More than 40 military
operators, together with some civil applications, have
accumulated in excess of 13 million hours in service.
Hawk trainer aircraft, powered by the Rolls-Royce Turbomeca
Adour engine, continue to build on their reputation
as the world's favourite advanced trainer aircraft,
which has 22 customers worldwide. The Adour has accumulated
over seven million flying hours in service to date and
the latest variant, the Mk951, offers improved thrust
performance while doubling the target time between overhaul.
The Mk951 also has a FADEC (full authority digital engine
control) system and is available for all current variants
of the Hawk family.
For primary trainer applications, Rolls-Royce also
offers the compact Model 250 turboprop, which powers
a range of in-service aircraft including the Aermacchi
SF260TP, M-290 TP RediGO, ENAER T-35 Pillán Turbo
and Fuji T-5/T-7.
