The U.S. Army has awarded Rolls-Royce a $32 million contract modification for provision of Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) services covering the Model 250 - powered OH-58 Kiowa Warrior military helicopter fleet. Today, the U.S. Department of Defense has more than 1000 Model 250-powered helicopters in service around the world.
As part of this CLS agreement, which will cover nine Kiowa Warrior units and more than 250 helicopters through 2010, Rolls-Royce will provide engine repair and overhaul as well as parts supply. In addition, field representatives will accompany OH-58 Kiowa Warrior units whenever and wherever they are deployed to provide tactical, hands-on support.
Ken Roberts, President of the Rolls-Royce Helicopter business said: “The OH-58 Kiowa Warrior fleet provides a vital capability for the U.S. Army, performing critical troop support and reconnaissance missions, often in extremely harsh environmental conditions.
Since 2000, the comprehensive services Rolls-Royce delivers have enabled the U. S. Army to concentrate on performing safe and effective missions in multiple theaters of operation. Our eighteen Rolls-Royce field representatives fully integrate with the units they are attached to, bringing real time support to our customers where it is most needed.”
The OH-58 Kiowa Warrior is a member of the OH-58 family of single-engine, single rotor military helicopters produced by Bell Helicopter.
Rolls-Royce is the world-leading producer of light turbine engines in the helicopter market. The Model 250 line has produced 30,000 engines, with approximately 16,000 currently in service worldwide in a wide range of aircraft styles.
