The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) is a global
index that tracks the financial performance of leading
sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The index
is based on a thorough assessment of corporate economic,
environmental and social performance, and measures areas
such as corporate governance, risk management, branding,
climate change, supply chain standards and labour practices.
Rolls-Royce was admitted to the DJSI in 2002. Since
then membership has grown substantially, with approximately
600 companies now included in the index. The company’s
Corporate Responsibility activities and initiatives
in areas such as community investment, the environment,
human resources and occupational health, to name a few,
have generated high scores and therefore had a positive
impact on its performance in CR ‘league tables’
such as the global DJSI.
This year, Rolls-Royce scored highly compared to the
industry average in:
- risk and crisis management;
- supply chain management;
- compliance with applicable export control regimes;
- environmental performance;
- environmental reporting;
- corporate citizenship/philanthropy;
- standards for suppliers; and
- occupational health & safety.
