Rolls-Royce has been named a Platinum Company in the Business in the Community’s Corporate Responsibility Index for 2006.
We achieved an overall score of 96.5% and came top of the aerospace and defence sector.
The index is a voluntary, business-led initiative designed to measure and report on the impacts companies have on society and the environment through their mainstream business activities. A total of 110 companies publicly participated in 2006. Companies are marked on seven sections – corporate strategy; integration; management practice; social impact; environmental impact; assurance; and commitment to disclose.
Rolls-Royce received over 90 per cent in all sections, beating the index average. In addition, the Group scored 100 per cent on questions relating to corporate values, CR principles and Board reporting.
The index is used as a business tool by companies to assess and compare the extent to which strategy and values are translated into responsible business practice in four key areas: environment, community, marketplace and workplace.
John Rivers, Director – Human Resources, Rolls-Royce plc said, "Business in the Community's Indices are the leading UK benchmark for responsible business practice. Rolls-Royce believes that excellence in corporate responsibility delivers competitive advantage and contributes to long-term success, in addition to benefiting our employees and their communities."
