Product Improvement

We are committed to working with partners in the aerospace sector to deliver a further step change in the environmental performance of our civil aero engines. The targets we are working to are ambitious ones but the performance of our newest civil aero engines, the Trent 900 for the Airbus A380 and the Trent 1000 for the Boeing 787, is in line with their achievement.

In our Energy business the Industrial Trent has reduced NOx emissions by a factor of 10, a major contribution to improved air quality. We will continue to invest in new low emission combustor technologies.

Our diesel engines offer high efficiency propulsion and power in the marine sector and our gas fuelled Bergen K engine offers reductions in NOx of up to 90 per cent, compared to conventional marine diesels.
