Rolls-Royce is active in several industry initiatives committed to understanding and addressing aviation's environmental impacts through a collaborative approach involving airframers, engine manufacturers, airports and air traffic control.

Rolls-Royce is a member of flyingMatters, which aims to contribute to a balanced and informed debate concerning aviation and climate change.

Within the UK aviation industry, the Sustainable Aviation initiative has adopted 34 commitments under broad headings such as climate change, noise, sustainable development, local air quality, integrated transport, energy and water use, waste management, and community relations. Rolls-Royce is an active member of this initiative.

Greener by Design provides a forum for the assessment of options for limiting aviation’s environmental impact, drawing on the resources of experts from across the aviation industry. Rolls-Royce is represented on the Advisory Committee and on the Science and Technology Sub-Group.
