Operational Excellence
As a result of the investments we
have made over the last decade, our manufacturing facilities
operate at, or close to, world-class levels of environmental
performance. We have a programme of continuous improvement
in place to strengthen that performance and we encourage
our supply chain to do likewise.
Between 1998 and 2006, despite an increase in turnover
of nearly 60 per cent, Rolls-Royce cut the annual energy
consumption in its facilities by 11 per cent, reduced
its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent, reduced
the use of solvents by 45 per cent, reduced water consumption
by 27 per cent and increased the amount of solid waste
sent for recycling to 48 per cent. The company has now
set itself new challenging targets to make further improvements
in these areas by 2009.
