Description
The V2500 is the Rolls-Royce offering in the 22,000
to 33,000lb thrust class.
The product of IAE International Aero Engines AG, a
successful multi-national consortium led by senior shareholders
Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney, together with JAEC
and MTU Aero Engines, the engine is available for the
popular A319, A320, A321 and Airbus Corporate Jetliner
aircraft. The V2500 also powers the now out of production
Boeing MD-90.
Offering up to four per cent better fuel-burn performance
than alternatives, the V2500 achieves improved payload
and range while reducing airline fuel bills. Superior
performance retention leading to longer on-wing life
is also a characteristic of the engine.
The V2500's noise and emissions levels are well within
both current limits and proposed future limits, offering
an operation that is less damaging to the environment
as well as being less expensive to airlines. V2500-powered
aircraft are well inside today's statutory noise limits
and below any proposed future noise limitations. The
V2500 is the environmental leader in its class with
lowest overall emissions.
In 1999, the first V2500-A1 Phoenix Standard engine
entered service. The Phoenix Standard updates the original
-A1 engine with the latest 'hot section' technology
from today's -A5 engine to extend the on-wing life of
the -A1 and reduce maintenance costs by, typically,
25 per cent. In the second half of 2008, the new build
standard – SelectOneTM – will enter service.
When combined with the V2500SelectSM aftermarket package,
the new standard will offer further fuel savings, even
lower emissions, increased time on wing and lower maintenance
costs.
In addition to standard ratings, IAE also offers the
V2527E and V2527M ratings. The V2527E is an enhanced
rating for the A320, which provides additional thrust
at high altitude airports. The V2527M rating is used
on A319 airliners and the A319 based Airbus Corporate
Jetliner to enhance payload and range capabilities.
