Its first version, the RB211-535C, was launch engine
for the Boeing 757 and entered service in 1983 as the
first non-US engine to launch a Boeing civil aircraft.
An advanced version, the higher-thrust RB211-535E4,
features extensive use of advanced computer-designed
aerodynamics, particularly in its wide-chord fan.
The final order status for the 757 saw Rolls-Royce
claim 59% of the 1049 a/c produced by Boeing, receiving
orders from 43 (78%) of Boeing’s 55 757 customers.
