On 14 June 2013, Rolls-Royce powered a double delivery that will transform the future of the British Airways fleet.
Trent 900 engines brought the airline’s first Airbus A380 in to land at Heathrow Airport this morning from the Airbus delivery centre in Toulouse.
It then taxied to the British Airways engineering centre nearby, to join the airline’s other brand new aircraft, two Boeing 787 Dreamliners featuring Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines, delivered last week.

Widebody
In the modern, widebody market, Rolls-Royce is the market leader. Each individual member of our Trent engine family (comprising the Trent XWB, Trent 1000, Trent 900, Trent 500, Trent 800 and Trent 700) has the distinction of being either the launch engine for the airframe for which it was designed, or being the market leader on that application. The Trent family builds on the success of the RB211-524 and RB211-535 engines.
Narrowbody
Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney have proposed a new joint venture to develop engines for future generation mid-size aircraft (120-230 passengers).
Rolls-Royce is a former shareholder in the consortium International Aero Engines (IAE) which produces the V2500 for the Airbus A320 family. Now, as a major supplier, Rolls-Royce continues to have a significant manufacturing, assembly and servicing commitment to the programme.
Corporate and regional
In the Corporate market, Rolls-Royce is the market leader and powers the fastest, the longest-range, and the largest business jets. In the past decade, our engines have powered seven new business jets into service, contributing to a total Rolls-Royce powered corporate fleet of more than 2,400 aircraft. Rolls-Royce holds more than a third of the regional market with the AE 3007 engines powering almost 1,000 Embraer aircraft.
