Rolls-Royce has become a leading industry supplier in the U.S. with a significant and growing presence. Today, more Rolls-Royce products are built in the U.S. than anywhere else in the world. For over 100 years now, from the opening of our first office here in 1906, Rolls-Royce has had a strong presence in the U.S. – which has helped us to evolve into the industry leader we are today.
The U.S. is home to several Rolls-Royce global businesses including Rolls-Royce Energy Systems in Mount Vernon,Ohio and Rolls-Royce Helicopters in Indianapolis. Other major Rolls-Royce businesses in the U.S. include: Defense North America and LibertyWorks™, both in Indiana; Rolls-Royce Naval Marine in Massachusetts; Rolls-Royce Engine Services in Oakland; and Optimized Systems & Solutions in Virginia.
Our capabilities in the region cover R&D, design, engineering, manufacture, assembly, test, repair and overhaul of advanced gas turbine engines and components, marine propulsion and shoplift systems, oil and gas pipeline pumping and power generation packages.
Other locations in the U.S. include; Crosspointe, our new aerospace facility located just south of Richmond, Virginia; Rolls-Royce North America’s regional corporate headquarters in Reston, Virginia; Oakland, home to our global Engine Services business; and Mississippi, opened in 2007 which houses our Outdoor Jet Engine Test Facility – one of only three such sites in the world.
Finally, Rolls-Royce’s facility in Indianapolis is not only our largest operation in North America, but the largest outside the UK as well. It employs well over 4,000 people in two main facilities: a one million square foot research, development and testing site and a two million square foot production site. Indianapolis is a friendly, multicultural city, big enough to offer all the amenities and entertainment you could wish for, yet small enough to have a real sense of community.
