Germany

Together with our German partners, Rolls-Royce supplies, produces and supports engines for customers in Germany and abroad. These include high profile commercial airlines and charter operators, as well as the German Armed Forces, many of whose fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters are powered by Rolls-Royce engines. At the latest count, there were 2,200 Rolls-Royce engines operating in Germany.

Over the years Rolls-Royce has invested €1.5 billion in developing our German locations and the successful BR700 family of engines. Today in Germany we have a total workforce of around 3,000, support 5,000 engines in service worldwide, and are the country’s only fully certified engine manufacturer with complete systems capability for the design, production and after-sales support of modern civil and military turbine engines.

Furthermore, our industrial gas turbines are in service in the power generation, oil and gas sectors, and our latest product, the Trent 60, has been ordered by RWE, Germany’s largest electricity supplier. Rolls-Royce Deutschland is also responsible for delivering technically demanding modules, such as the high-pressure compressor of the TP400-D6 engine programme for the Airbus A400M military transport aircraft.
