Higher apprenticeships

If you're looking to progress to graduate level in your studies and build up work experience at the same time using world-class technologies and processes, choose our Higher Apprenticeship.

We'll provide you with on and off-the-job practical training, a competitive salary and opportunities to progress, either within our Engineering function or in a variety of other disciplines. You'll achieve at least a Foundation degree, with opportunities to progress to Degree level.

At Rolls-Royce, as well as training you for a well-paid career, we'll pay you a competitive salary from day one of your Apprenticeship. How much depends on your role and location, but you'll start on between £150 - £180 per week. By your third year, that could go up to £250 - £290 per week.

From the moment you join Rolls-Royce, you'll be a valuable member of the team and we'll make sure your work is well-rewarded.

Get qualified

Throughout your Higher Apprenticeship, you'll also study for nationally recognised qualifications, for example, NVQ/SVQs Level 4 or 5, amongst other qualifications. You may also be able to continue study beyond your apprenticeship for more advanced qualifications.

Get experienced

All our apprentices go on our Outward Bound Professional Programme to help develop some of the other important skills you'll need at Rolls-Royce. Through exciting, fast-paced activities outdoors and in the classroom you'll improve your teamwork, self-confidence and communication skills. You'll push yourself in new and different ways. And your experiences mean you'll come back to work an even stronger member of our team.

Overview

Learning both on the job and in the classroom, you’ll gain valuable qualifications, practical skills and incredible experience in one of the world’s most prestigious, dynamic businesses. Show us your enthusiasm for a career in a leading-edge engineering environment, and we’ll give you everything you need to go far. With our support, you’ll study part time at Nottingham Trent Business School, gaining at least a Foundation degree in Management and Leadership, with the opportunity to go further and achieve your BA (Hons). Once you’ve completed your Higher Apprenticeship, there’s the opportunity to progress within the company, developing your career either within the Supply Chain function or a whole variety of other disciplines.

Entry requirements

Articulate, numerate, driven individuals who can learn quickly and engage people at all levels.
Three A Levels at grade A* to C or equivalent (achieved or expected). Plus GCSEs at grade C or above in Maths (higher paper), English, Science and at least one other subject.
In Scotland, three Highers at grade A to C or equivalent, including Maths and Physics (achieved or expected). Plus two Standard grades (Band 3, Intermediate 2 Band C or Intermediate 1 Band A) in English and one other subject.
Several areas of interest in which you can demonstrate your achievements, for example sports, languages, organising a significant event, Duke of Edinburgh Awards or charity work.
Evidence that you’re genuinely enthusiastic about developing a career in supply chain management.

Team skills
We’re also very, very keen to take on people who are developing their team skills. Because, despite the size of our company, we all enjoy working with other people. Overview

If you’re looking to progress to graduate level in your studies and build up professional experience developing real project management skills using world-class tools and processes, choose our Project Management Higher Apprenticeship.

We’ll provide you with on and off-the-job training, a competitive salary and opportunities to progress, within our Project Management function. You’ll achieve at least a Foundation degree, with opportunities to progress further. You may ultimately be involved in the development and launch of new gas turbine engines to power tomorrow’s aircraft or ships, as well as building power stations or new manufacturing facilities - the possibilities are endless. Throughout, you’ll work alongside real project management professionals as you continue your development towards accredited Association for Project Management qualifications.

Training and Development
You’ll be given a firm foundation in Project Management techniques, before undertaking mentored placements in different areas of the company, typically lasting four months each. These will equip you with key project management skills in scope management, planning & scheduling, resource management, cost control, risk management and project monitoring and reporting.

Entry requirements

A strong academic background – you’ll either have, or be expecting 3 A-Levels at grade A* to C or equivalent
Grade C or above in GCSE Maths (higher paper), English Language, Science and one other technical subject
We are looking for individuals that are articulate and numerate, with the ability and desire to learn quickly. They will have a strong drive to achieve and make improvements with the ability to engage people at all levels.

Entry requirements

GCSE (Grades A*–C) Intermediate 1 A or 2 A-C in Maths (Higher paper), English Language, a relevant Science or Technical subject – but not Combined Science PLUS one of the following:

A-Level (Grades A* -C) Maths, Physics/Chemistry + 1 other
SQA Higher National Diploma
Scottish Highers in Maths and Physics (Band A–C)
Key/Functional Skills level 3
S/NVQs at level 3, level 4 and level 5
BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in an Engineering related subject including
Further Maths – Merit
