New aircraft and ships are using increasingly more electricity, which means we need to come up with news ways of getting the power required. That’s why we’re continually designing innovative new ways to transfer electricity from the engines to the electrical systems. This includes designing systems that turn low voltage, DC power into high voltage, AC power. The challenge to our engineers is to maximise power while minimising losses in performance, efficiency and reliability.
