Activities
We place a strong emphasis on employing talent that
embodies our vision of bringing different people, from
different backgrounds and experiences, together at Rolls-Royce.
Listed below are the 2007 activities at which Rolls-Royce
will support such efforts.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
(SHPE) Conference
The National Technical and Career Conference
will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October
31- 4 November, 2007. This is the premier event
for SHPE and is the largest national, technical conference
that focuses on engineering, mathematics and science
for Hispanics.
The Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference
This conference attracts top professionals and students
from every part of the nation and every field of science,
engineering, and technology. The conference has served
as an invaluable tool to recognize outstanding achievement
of African-Americans in companies across America and
will be held in Baltimore, Maryland on February
15-17, 2007.
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
Conference and Award
NSBE will hold its national convention in Columbus,
Ohio on 28 March - 1 April, 2007. NSBE’s
charter is to increase the number of culturally responsible
Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally
and positively impact the community.
Indiana Black Exposition (IBE) Employment Opportunity
Fair
Rolls-Royce will participate in the IBE Employment Fair
in July, 2007 in Indianapolis, IN.
This conference showcases the achievements of African-Americans
in the areas of culture, art, history and economics
and draws national and international participation.
National Urban League (NUL) Conference
The National Urban League is a non-profit, non-partisan,
civil rights and community based movement. Urban League
affiliates empower African Americans and other emerging
ethnic communities through job placement and business
development among other things. This year’s conference
is being held in St. Louis, Missouri on July
25-28, 2007.
Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference
The SWE Career Fair for is scheduled for October
25-27 2007 in Nashville, Tennessee. SWE is
a non-profit, educational service organization dedicated
to supporting and encouraging women to pursue careers
in engineering and related technical and scientific
fields.
Achievements
We also place a strong emphasis on the development and
recognition of our internal talent and have sponsored
several of our own employees as award recipients including
Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference representing
the "Modern-Day Technology Leader" as well
as the "Special Recognition" category.
