Assessment centre
If you’re successful at
the application stage, you’ll be invited to attend
an assessment centre. Before the assessment centre you’ll
be asked to complete an online personality questionnaire
– this is part of the assessment centre so we
won’t make any decisions using only the questionnaire.
You will be provided with full details and will have
plenty of time in which to complete it.
The assessment centre itself is slightly different,
depending on whether you’re being considered for
the Professional Excellence programme, the Leadership
Development programme or an Internship programme. The
assessment centre will be held at one of our main sites.
For the Leadership programme, it’s 1.5 days, for
Professional Excellence and internships it will be 1
day. If you’re not based within reasonable travelling
distance of the site we’ll offer to put you up
in a hotel the night before.
As well as the actual assessment activities, you’ll
have opportunities to meet and talk with senior managers
and some current trainees.
During the assessment centre, you’ll undertake
several exercises:
- Numerical and verbal reasoning tests (these are
run under exam conditions)
- Interviews that will explore your application and
your interest in Rolls-Royce as well as your suitability
for the type of work you’ve expressed an interest
in and your approach to a range of situations
- For Professional Excellence applicants, the emphasis
will be on your potential capability in a technical
sense
- For Leadership Development applicants, the emphasis
will be on exploring your experience of leadership
and your potential for accelerated development in
this area. This will involve a group exercise and
a written strategy paper.
