Intern Profile
Lauren Tulley
Intern Graduate Programme
“As an intern you may think that you’ll
be given all the dull jobs that other team members don’t have
the time to complete. That’s not the case at Rolls Royce –
I’ve been given responsibility for critical tasks, but have
always had a support network to call on when required. There’s
also a culture of learning and development at Rolls-Royce. There’s
a real emphasis placed on this – even as an intern –
which is fantastic for your career.
I’ve spent my intern year working within the Enterprise Resource
Planning Wave II project team, which worked to implement two modules
of SAP. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of different
objectives, including the development of new training facilities,
the design and subsequent training of key management reports, and
managing real life simulation sessions.
Staying for a year gave me a real insight into working at Rolls
Royce and enabled me to see the project through to the end. It’s
allowed me to gain knowledge and build up an excellent network of
contacts from all different business areas, not solely supply chain
management.
As an intern you gain support and advice from many different sources.
I’ve gained advice and knowledge from numerous senior managers.
I’ve also gained support and advice from my team colleagues
and one piece that has stuck with me is to make an effort to understand
what, why and how decisions are made and to remember that there
is no such thing as a silly question!
There’s a good graduate and intern network at Rolls-Royce,
which means there are lots of social activities. I now have a network
of friends within Rolls-Royce that have been fantastic for socialising,
but also for their support and advice.”
