Finance Profile
Hannah Drew
Finance Graduate Programme
“I was already attracted to Rolls-Royce because
of the company’s name and reputation. However, when I visited
the assessment centre and talked to people already on the programme,
I was more impressed by the experiences they had gained, the range
of opportunities available and the support Rolls-Royce offered to
trainees in their early careers.
The Finance programme itself is very supportive of your CIMA studies.
The college we go to gets excellent results and our local managers
are very supportive of taking time to study.
There’s a culture of openness and communication with Finance
– with exposure to senior managers at away days, networking
events and informal coffee mornings. This presents many opportunities
to voice your opinions and learn from those who have risen in the
company.
The most exciting project I have been involved in was working on
the Trent 1000 project – the launch of the new Boeing Dreamliner.
The engine first went to test after having met a really difficult
deadline so there was a real buzz around the company and everyone
was very proud of the part they had played.
From a social point of view, trainees find themselves with a ready-made
network of friends. The culture among trainees is very friendly
and supportive of each other and there are many opportunities to
join sports teams and clubs or to get involved in representing Rolls-Royce
in the community.
You’re expected to be proactive and manage your own career
and aspirations, while all these opportunities are available, it’s
up to you to grasp them.”
