PhD
If you are looking to undertake a PhD, you should consider
applying directly to the university departments where
we have University
Technology Centres (UTC). Whilst Rolls-Royce funds
research, PhD students are recruited by the universities
themselves.

EngD
We also sponsor EngD students. An EngD is a post–graduate
award, an alternative to a traditional PhD. An EngD
combines company-based research with professional training
and is an excellent introduction to an engineering career
in industry. Similarly to PhD students, individuals
are employed by the university but your research would
be conducted almost entirely at Rolls-Royce, giving
you a really indepth feel for your subject and the company.
EngD students receive a minimum tax-free stipend of
around £17500.
