customers, suppliers and partners, Commercial at Rolls-Royce
is big business. It’s about maximising profit
for the company and minimising risk, while building
and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
This can include life cycle, financial analysis, pricing,
business evaluations and risk assessments, as well as
drafting contracts, negotiation, claims management and
contract administration.

What Commercial graduates do
Commercial is involved in all aspects of a business
transaction, from supplier to customer, from new sales
to aftermarket contracts, from pre-bid to contract close
out. There are two types of roles available in Commercial:
- The first is about managing and administering contracts
with a specific group of customers, whether as part
of new or existing business
- The other is more about analysis and evaluation,
building a business case around a deal or assessing
the costs and risks of a particular venture.
Examples of projects/attachments
include:
- Drafting a sales proposal for a particular campaign
- Working in a team to draw up the contract for a
new deal
- Ensuring the contractual commitments are met –
for example delivery schedules or financial payments
- Constructing a pricing model for a particular requirement.
Commercial graduates may be involved in a number of
training courses, including customer and cultural awareness
training, negotiation skills, influencing skills, contract
law, contract drafting, holistic gas turbine course.
