Summer Internship

THE WORK SO FAR
Customer management really covers a broad spectrum of divisions, and I realised from day one that I'd work through all of these. I first started with the commercial aspect, such as contracts - I was given some contracts and learned how and why they were written the way they were. This led to me then writing an actual first draft contract for a customer. I also experienced marketing, and explored potential new customers by researching their current products and future needs.

MOST EXCITING ASPECT
One of the best experiences was meeting Airbus with the sales team on a presentation talking about the relationship they had with Rolls-Royce. It was so diverse, and really afforded me the opportunity to work in every sector.

BEST THING ABOUT ROLLS-ROYCE
The people I met - including other interns - during my time at Rolls-Royce were really great. They were as diverse a group as the jobs that I was doing. It was so friendly and welcoming an environment to work in, I ended up playing football most Fridays with other interns and global heads - there was no forced hierarchy. Everyone seemed to be working at Rolls because they genuinely loved it. This was what got me excited during my internship - it felt more like a group of friends than just work colleagues.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GAINED
I have learned to listen more. At University I've always been in a leadership role - whether in my work for charity or as President of my halls of residence. This internship has made me listen better, and therefore take care with my decisions. These skills are so easily transferable to my time at uni, and will definitely help me with my future career.
