BEST THING ABOUT ROLLS-ROYCE
I enjoy the work placements (I have 11 placements within my three years), gaining both practical and valuable experience whilst learning. All my placements so far have presented different challenges to overcome. and this has enabled me to grow in confidence over a surprisingly short period of time.
MOST EXCITING WORK SO FAR
In my current placement I've been involved with progressing key materials through the supply chain, which has involved communicating with the suppliers via emails, telephone and on-site visits. There are always challenges with getting the material in on time, and these challenges are what make the role so interesting. In the last few months, I've been responsible for seeing an urgent part through all of its processes, right from raw material. This whole experience has made me realise that even in a huge company such as Rolls-Royce, one person can make a huge difference, even though I'm still an Apprentice.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
So far I've achieved ERP in action, Yellow Belt, PE & Lean Workshop, Drawing Appreciation, SAP Foundation, STEM ambassador, CBT, SAP Transactional Make & Buy, HPC engagement session, Holistic Gas Turbine course and Risk Management. And I'm working towards APICS (I've passed the first module out of six), NVQ level 5 - Supply chain management and BA (Hons) Management and Leadership.
