Cub Scout Scientist Badge
In June 2007, Rolls-Royce launched a partnership with The Scout Association in the UK to sponsor the Cub Scout Scientist Badge. This relationship has been developed to support our education policy, which aims to equip young people with the skills and abilities our business will require in the future, particularly in the STEM subjects - science, technology, engineering and maths.
The key objective of this partnership is to encourage Cub Scouts (8 to 10 year olds) to take part in some fun - and educational - science activities, in order to achieve the Scientist Badge. To help, we have developed a set of resources to help make the Scientist Badge activities interesting to Cubs and easy for their adult Leaders to set up and run.
Scientist Badge activity pack
To gain the Scientist Badge, Cubs must complete six activities - three demonstrating understanding of the Living World and a further three the Physical World all designed to encourage them to investigate and explore basic scientific principles. There are nineteen activities to choose from and the complete list can be found on the ScoutBase website.
We have worked with the Cub Scout Association to develop a series of resources that include an activity pack and a set of worksheets for Cubs to complete for each activity along with some guidance for Leaders (see the downloadable resources below).
