The Rolls-Royce Marine business is establishing a new production facility in Rio de Janeiro to assemble and test thrusters.
We are seeking to recruit a Manufacturing and Quality Engineer (MQE) - Thrusters to ensure our manufacturing processes meet quality, cost, delivery and lead time requirements. The role will initially support the Operations Manager in the run-up to production starting and to enable familiarisation with the product and organisation. Once production starts, the role will take responsibility for compliance to manufacturing method, monitoring and managing conformance and quality and providing support on all manufacturing and process issues. The successful applicant will be required to spend circa 2 months in Scandinavia as part of the training process and will subsequently be based in Rio de Janeiro.
This critical role will be responsible for implementing manufacturing and quality processes in keeping with all Quality Management System, ISO/AS9100 and regulatory requirements along with maintaining, training and improving the documented method of manufacture used by the production team. A successful MQE will also manage equipment measurement and calibration and apply statistical principles and basic quality tools to evaluate and solve process variability technical problems while promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.
As a trusted representative of Rolls-Royce, this individual will host facility audits and facilitate the product’s approval by the Marine Classification Societies. In addition to supporting projects to improve the efficiency of the manufacturing processes, this individual will monitor quality metrics, undertake audits and provide reports on data collated.
Qualified candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Manufacturing or Engineering) and be both fluent in English and Brazilian Portuguese. This individual will also demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain planning and control with a good understanding of Marine industry and markets.
Additionally, the preferred candidate will be a team player with solid experience working as part of a production team in a manufacturing environment as well as possess prior experience working with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean (Green/ Black belt accreditation would be beneficial). Working knowledge of MXN/SAP/BAAN is also desirable.
