Internship in System Integration of Control System Components (f/m)
Reference number: 00060289, Date added: 04-Jul
Rolls-Royce Deutschland brings together a team of more than 3,500 employees from more than 50 nations, pursuing their passion for excellence when it comes to designing, manufacturing and servicing state-of-the-art aerospace engines.
Our headquarters in Dahlewitz near Berlin are home to the company's Development, Assembly and Customer Service units as well as central administrative and strategic departments. The Controls department is responsible for the definition of the architecture of the control system as well as the integration of the main components of the control system, such as the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or hydraulic actuators to position the variable compressor vanes.
In the concept phase the requirements of all involved stakeholders have to be analysed to define the architecture and subsequently write specifications for the individual components. Especially for the ECU with its many interfaces it is desirable to have standardised requirements for each interface type, to guarantee a complete coverage of requirements and benefit from synergy effects across multiple engine projects.
Another challenge is the break-down of system level requirements to component level, for example in terms of accuracy, bandwidth or performance.
Your main tasks as an Intern in the Controls department will be:
- Analysis of existing component specifications, design guides and the knowledge database
- Compilation of common requirements for certain interfaces, including rationales
- Documentation of these standardised requirements in parametric form
- Simulation of a hydraulic control loop and identification of the impact of the characteristics of certain components on the performance of the closed loop
