Electronics Design Engineer - Hardware Development

An opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Design Engineer within Rolls-Royce Submarines Future Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (EC&I) department. Reporting to the Hardware Development Team Leader, you will be responsible for the design and definition of equipment to be used within the Next Generation Nuclear Propulsion Plant for the Successor Submarine Programme.
The Hardware Development Team is responsible for the electronic design of Neutron Detection Instrumentation, along with the definition and implementation of FPGA designs for the Controls and Instrumentation system that includes Reactor Protection Instrumentation and other primary plant protection and monitoring systems.
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for all development lifecycle aspects of new product introduction; including requirements definition, concept development, detailed digital design, FPGA development (VHDL) and product verification. Depending on your experience there may also be aspects of analogue design including schematics capture, design justification and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
Due to the high-integrity nature of the work undertaken, this is a technically challenging role, that offers the potential to progress to various specialist roles within the engineering function - such as technical specialist and leadership roles.
