Rolls-Royce are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer - Purchase (ME-P).
The role reports to the Quality Manager within Core Design & Manufacture (CDM) operating within a cross-functional Procurement Team. You will act as Technical Authority within the supply chain ensuring product integrity, especially in regards to safety and cleanliness (cross contamination). You will work with and develop suppliers based in the UK, Europe, and USA to ensure the Method of Manufacture is both stable and capable. Suppliers range from fabricators, precision machine shops, through to specialist material mills. In addition, you will assist internal stakeholders in ensuring quality requirements (drawings and specifications) are complete and unambiguous before they are cascaded into the supply chain and they play a pivotal role in New Product Introduction (NPI).
The small team of ME-P's operate within a changing operational environment (new core factory being built) where significant change and quality risk is ever-present (product development and assuring equivalency). As a Manufacturing Engineer - Purchase (ME-P), your main responsibilities will be to:
Coach and support suppliers in new production introduction to Rolls-Royce approved processes.
Work with the supplier to ensure that all advanced quality planning activities are robustly carried out along with the proving of production capability and rate readiness.
Work with the supplier to deliver capability acquisition projects that are worked to in a timely fashion that supports product delivery.
Ensure that the method of manufacture and inspection plan is capable of delivering design intent and that the supplier has a robust Technical Package for all Rolls-Royce parts.
Coach and support in SABRe technical processes and be responsible for exercising delegated technical authority with the supplier. The role will have technical authority for FAIRs, Fixed Process Approval and all parts transfer activity.
Review and approve method of manufacture changes with the supplier and work with the supplier to deliver cost reductions, utilising the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centres for expertise in modern manufacturing techniques. This will also encompass technical continuous improvement opportunities with the supplier to improve manufacturing process capability.
