Luc Jambon-Scheffer - Repair Development Manager

Development / Experimental

Development is a key function within Civil Engineering. It provides world-class capability in Systems Engineering, Programme Management and Verification in order to deliver engineering programmes that meet all validated requirements. Drawing on the talents of its people and taking advantage of the best tools and processes, it creates innovative engine development and compliance programmes.

The Development Engineering teams at Derby are responsible for supporting the RB211/Trent fleet engines, the Trent 900EP programme, the Trent 1000 Package B/C Engine Development Programme (EDP) plus Flight Test campaign, and the Trent XWB EDP and Flight Test programme.

These programmes involve sea-level simulated altitude testing and flight testing across several continents. Key dates include Trent 900EP modification clearance in mid-2011, Trent 1000 package B modification clearance and Trent 1000 Entry Into Service in 2011, Trent XWB Certification in early 2012, and support of the first flight of the XWB aircraft in mid-2012.
