Despite the hands-on nature of much of the training, our apprenticeship roles still involve a fair amount of academic work. For that reason, we’ll need you to have already achieved a certain level in your education.
Each opportunity has its own specific requirements. For example:
In England, you’ll need GCSEs (Grade D or above) in Maths, English, Science and at least one other subject (ideally something technical like Design and Technology).
In Scotland, you’ll need Standard grades (Band 3, Intermediate 2 Band C or above, or Intermediate 1 Band A) in Maths, English, a relevant science or technical subject, and at least one other subject.

In Scotland, you’ll need two Higher grades in Maths and Physics, plus two Standard grades (Band 3, Intermediate 2 Band C or Intermediate 1 Band A) in English and one other subject.
To join our Higher Apprenticeship scheme, you will need one of the following:

Beyond your academic qualifications, we’ll be looking for evidence that you are genuinely interested in and enthusiastic about developing a career in your chosen area.
For instance, if you’re applying to join an Engineering Apprenticeship, we’d like to hear about how you like to tinker with cars, bicycles or motorbikes; or about an engineering project you’ve done at school; or an engineering club you’ve been involved with.
Whatever it is, we need to know you’ve thought things through and are fairly sure that this career is right for you.
We’re also very, very keen to take on people who love working as a team. Because, despite the size of our company, we all enjoy working with other people.
So, we’ll be interested in how you’ve worked in a group, whether that’s at school, with your family, in a sports team, at work, in voluntary organisations, such as the Guides, Scouts or Cadets, or as part of religious or community activities.
“I have always been interested in flying and in cars, so the Rolls-Royce Apprenticeship was perfect for me.”
