President and Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce North America Inc.
James Guyette is President and Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce North America Inc. (RRNA). In this role, Jim oversees all Rolls-Royce companies and business units in North America encompassing nearly 8,000 people at more than 66 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 2009, total RRNA sales exceeded $4.7 billion. Jim is an executive director on the boards of Rolls-Royce plc and Rolls-Royce North America Holdings Inc. Jim is based in the RRNA headquarters in Reston, VA. He joined Rolls-Royce in 1997.
Previously, Jim enjoyed a long and successful career with United Airlines. In his more than 28 years with the carrier, Jim held a wide range of increasingly senior positions giving him unparalleled breadth and depth into all facets of airline management. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President - Marketing and Planning, responsible for all marketing, sales, fleet and route planning and scheduling. Before this, he was Executive Vice President - Operations, accountable for all aspects of the airline's daily operations. He also served as Assistant to the Chairman of the Board. Additionally, Jim was an integral part of the team that designed, developed and launched the Boeing 777 -- for which he earned the Aviation Week & Space Technology Laurels Award.
Jim is a director of priceline.com, Norwalk, CT and the Private Bank and Trust Co., Chicago, IL. He is Chairman of the Board of the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum and a member of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Boards of Governors for the Aerospace Industries Association and Flight Safety Foundation, as well as on the National Board of advisors for the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis, IN. He is a former member of the National Academy of Science Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board and former President of the Wings Club.
Jim received a B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Mary's College, Moraga, California. Today he serves on the Board of Regents for the College and in 2007, was named Alumnus of the Year. That same year, 2007, Jim received the Aviation Good Scout Award from the Greater New York Councils Boy Scouts of America.
