Alain Michaelis

Alain Michaelis joined Rolls-Royce in December 2008 as President, Gas Turbine Supply Chain and Deputy Chief Operating Officer. He has accountability for the Gas Turbine Supply Chain Strategy and operations in its entirety.

Alain has spent a considerable part of his career in supply chain organisations, most recently at Tenneco, based in the US and in Europe where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain & Manufacturing with responsibility for worldwide purchasing, logistics and manufacturing operations. Prior to this he held a range of positions with Tenneco and Wolseley Plc. His early career was spent as a design engineer with Ove Arup, where he led significant engineering projects, most notably on the reconstruction of Potzdammer Platz in Berlin.

Alain has lived and worked in six different countries and speaks French and German. He read Engineering at Imperial College, became a Chartered Mechanical Engineer in 1994 and gained an MBA from INSEAD in 1996.
