Alain Michaelis
Operations Director
Alain Michaelis was appointed Operations Director in January 2013. He is responsible for the industrial capability and performance of the group.
He joined Rolls-Royce in December 2008 as President, Gas Turbine Supply Chain and Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
Alain has spent most of his career leading Supply Chain and Operational teams, notably at Tenneco (SVP, Supply Chain & Manufacturing) and at Wolseley Plc (Supply Chain Director, Europe). He started his career as a mechanical design engineer with Ove Arup, where he led engineering projects including the reconstruction of Potzdammer Platz in Berlin.
Alain has lived and worked in six different countries and speaks French and German. He read Engineering at Imperial College, gained an MBA from INSEAD in 1996 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He is a board member of ITP.
