John Neill CBE was appointed to the board of Rolls-Royce Group plc as a non-executive director on 13 November 2008.
He is the Chief Executive of the Unipart Group of Companies. He is a member of the Council and Board of Business in the Community and is a Non-Executive Director of Charter PLC.
John Neill was educated at George Heriot's School, Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde. He gained a Bachelor of Arts Degree and then a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Oxford Brookes University, Middlesex University and De Montfort University.
He joined Unipart from General Motors in 1979 and in 1987 led the successful management buyout of the Company.
He is Vice President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, of BEN, the automotive industry charity and of The Institute of the Motor Industry. He is also a Trustee of the National Motor Museum.
